About Us
Bone Builders is a free, alternative exercise program that strives to combat the negative effects of osteoporosis. With the aid of trained RSVP+ volunteers, participants take part in weight bearing exercises designed to address specific areas of the body that are affected by osteoporosis. Exercise programs like Bone Builders can increase bone density in their participants by an average of 1% per year. Besides promoting bone density, Bone Builders benefits also include improved balance, increased energy and mobility, and decreased blood pressure. The exercise program also incorporates information and education on health related topics.
RSVP+ North Dakota is expanding its Bone Builders program throughout the state and is looking for local partners that can offer space to hold programs, local sponsors that can offer funds to purchase the weights used in the exercises local partners and volunteer trainers to bring Bone Builders to the area. Training for the volunteers will be provided. Bone Builders was successfully launched in Grand Forks in May. Due to increased interest, RSVP+ ND plans to expand the program to 35 sites across the state.
